Log into Qnect at www.Qnect.com/sign-in/ or sign up for a QuickQnect account, then hit the download button. It will walk you through the setup process and when completed, you’ll have a “Q” on your Tekla toolbar that includes our 1,2,3 buttons – everything you’ll need to use QuickQnect.

1. Once you’ve signed up on our website, a Qnect representative will call you to register your company and give you administrative rights, or you can call us now at 413-387-4375.
2. Once signed up, you can log in at www.Qnect.com with your email address and password, download the QuickQnect app (Tekla must be closed for the download), go to the “QuickQnect Dashboard” where you will manage new jobs, new users, preference templates, reports.
3. “Sample preferences” are already there for you to experiment with.
4. We or one of our connection engineer partners would like set your custom preferences with you the first time, and possibly every time, depending on your level of connection engineering expertise.
5. Just highlight a joint, a floor, a tier or a whole building in your Tekla Structures 3D model and press the green Qnect “1” button that is now in your Tekla tool bar. Note: your Tekla model will always be with you; just the data is extracted and imported back into the model.
6. Shortly, you will receive an email congratulating you that the engineering and connecting of your selection is finished. It will show the number of joints successfully connected. Now, press the green Qnect “2” button. In just minutes, your selection of the building will be engineered and connected.
7. Proceed to Reports on the dashboard to see the cost comparisons, optimization results and engineering submittal documents.

Preference setting is a key element for your savings. Preferences create the rules for our software to design the perfect Qnections for your company. Once your company’s preferred settings are selected, it is easy to copy them (from the dashboard) to a new job. We’re always here to assist with preference settings, whether its matching the EOR standards for mandated jobs, or selecting the settings that best match the fabricator’s shop and equipment.

Approximately half of your savings will come from Preference Optimization or “P+Op”. By running your job 10 or more times, you will be able to compare the cost of different bolt sizes and different connection types.

If it is a “mandated” job where the Engineer mandates all of the connection standards, then QuickQnect can easily mimic the mandated standards. You could also choose to get an override from the Engineer for all Qnect connections. This is commonly done and will add significantly to the optimization savings total.

Approximately half of your savings will come from Bolt Optimization or “B+Op”. QuickQnect will use your priority bolt sizes (up to three) and will try to make the most efficient connections allowable by AISC engineering requirements. Our computer algorithms may give you vertical spacings of 3”, 3.5”, 4”, 4.5”, 5”, 5.5”, or 6”. You can limit it to the conventional 3” or to any subset with simple selections.

You should expect anywhere from 20-50% reduction in the number of bolts, bolt holes, time for bolting, machine use, skilled laborers needed, and erection time.

QuickQnect automatically recognizes “doubler” requirements (need to reinforce the web due to a cope). Qnect offers a doubler report so you can see exactly which members required doublers. Now, you can act very early on to upsize the beam or reduce the load, thereby eliminating the doubler condition. The Doubler Report will indicate the maximum load for each affected member in order to eliminate the doublers.

Because QuickQnect can deliver a fully optimized 3D model so quickly (1,000 ton building in 15 minutes as an example), you can connect every project in the estimating stage to give you a more accurate material take off and a sense of the optimization savings possible before submitting your bid.
